As a Spiritualist, reincarnation/karma is one of the most important lessons. It holds the answers to our growth as a spiritual being.
We choose, before birth, what lessons we need to work upon. These can be any number of Karmic lessons and if we don't fully succeed in these lessons, when we reincarnate again, our lesson will continue. It may take only one lifetime to fulfill a lesson, but many lifetimes is more likely as to fully understand, and learn from the concept of the lesson, we have to experience it from many angles.
I've heard a few times, from spiritual people and non-spiritual people, that they are on their last lifetime, as if they're at a level of spiritual devlopement where the need to reincarnate doesn,t exist. How do they know, I ask myself. Personally, I'd have to think that before I made that statement I'd better be at least pretty close to Christ-like or I'd sound foolish. I feel that people make this statement to appear spiritually above other people, or, they don't really know what they're talking about. I would think that the closest to Christ-like in this day would be The Dali Lama, or Mother Theresa.
Someone might say that they're not reincarnating again due to a stressful life. When you're dealing with heavy-duty life issues, this means that you're doing what you came to do. This is not to say that you have to sit down and take any negativity, like a martyr, because it will further your spiritual progression. Not at all! You're to learn through these issues by fighting to overcome them. Grow through them. That's how you grow spiritually through living our Karmic lessons through reincarnation.
Reincarnation is a hugely broad and deep issue for most to truly understand if not fully accept. You're going to believe what you're ready to believe... and that is ultimately where you're supposed to be.
I believe in reincarnation although, I was raised to understand that we are given one life to live and that's it, end of story.
My family thinks it's a bunch of hooey and pray for my soul all the time. I do tend to go against the grain of "normal" in my family. That's ok though since I've always felt that I was on the outside looking in.
I believe that I've been working on my lessons very well this time around and that I've had some pretty heavy stuff to learn.
